Leatherman 830684 Charge TTi Multi-Tool with Leather/Nylon Combination Sheath and Gift Tin Review

I have owned a few Leatherman multi-tools in the past. The last Leatherman I purchased was the New Wave. I am going to compare the Charge TTi with the New Wave.

Unfortunately my New Wave was stolen, but I know that tool very well. I owned the Tactical New Wave, which was oxidized in black. Functionally the Charge TTi and the New Wave are very similar, except for a few subtle differences. Keep in mind I am talking about functionality, not material or aesthetics. Actually as far as the tool is concerned the only real difference functionally is that the Charge TTi has a cutting hook on the serrated knife and the New Wave doesn't. Also the Charge TTi has a crimper. Really that's it as far as the actual multi-tool goes. Most other tools are identical. The Charge TTi does come with 6 additional bits (which means 12 additional tools). Both multi-tools have a large and small bit driver. For about $12.00 you can get 21 double-ended bits that will work for either the Charge or the New Wave. I would list all of the other tools, but Amazon already does that.

One big difference is the material. The reason one might get the Charge TTi is because it's handles are made with titanium and the main blade is made with S30V stainless steal, which is a much higher quality steel then the New Waves 420HC stainless and also better then 154CM stainless on the other versions of the Charge (AL, ALX, Ti). In fact, S30V is some of the best steel you can get on hunting knives and multi-tools today. Also the Charge TTi is supposed to be more durable then Leathermans other multi-tools. Another benefit is that with the Charge TTi you get 6 additional double-ended bits which easily fit inside of the included sheath. Finally the Charge TTi just looks better in my opinion. That's no big deal though because I look for function before I look for aesthetics.

Really it comes down to what you need. If you're just a recreational user then I would recommend the New Wave. It's much cheaper then the Charge TTi and is almost just as functional. You don't get the additional bits or thecutting hook but you're not missing too much. I very rarely need to use any of the additional bits that came with the Charge TTi. Also, even though S30V is far superior then 420HC you probably wont care too much. You can always sharpen the New Wave if you need to. However if you're an industrial user and you rely on your multi-tool heavily on a daily basis then I would recommend the Charge TTi. You will really appreciate the much higher quality S30V and you will probably get more use out of the additional bits. Also the additional strength of the Charge TTi is definitely a plus. This tool gets 5 stars because it's flawless. It does cost a bit more, but what do you expect when you're buying a multi-tool that has titanium handles and a blade with one of the highest grade stainless steels available today? Try pricing other blades that have S30V stainless, they aren't cheap! If I wouldn't have found such a great deal on the Charge TTi then I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another New Wave. This is an amazing tool but make sure it's what you really need.

The TTi clip-point blade is crafted from S30V stainless steel, which offers an optimal combination of edge retention, flexibility and hardness. The handle is made from ultra-light, super-strong titanium.
The Leatherman Charge TTi packs a knife blade with one of the longest and strongest cutting edges of any multi-tool on the market today.
The Charge TTi and ALX are the first multitools with a cutting hook that slices through seat belts and linoleum just as easily as leather or canvas When it comes to multitools, there's one brand that stands out from the rest: Leatherman. The name is synonymous with quality and innovation, and each successive generation of Leatherman tools improves upon the last. Sticking with its tradition of pushing the design envelope, Leatherman introduces the Charge TTi, a high-end, ultra-compact multitool featuring titanium handles. If you're looking to carry the best of what Leatherman has to offer, the TTi is for you.
The Charge Family
The Charge TTi is part of a broader line of Leatherman multitools bearing the Charge name. Originally, the Charge line consisted of the Ti and the XTi, two high-end tools whose major distinguishing characteristic was having handles made from titanium. For 2007, Leatherman has added three new members to the Charge family: the TTi, the ALX, and the AL. As you might expect, the TTi is an upgraded version of the Ti and XTi. The AL and ALX, meanwhile, come with handles made from 6061 T6 aluminum, an ultra-light and super-strong material used in aircraft construction. There are also minor variations among the tools included in each unit. We'll discuss those shortly.

Leatherman has added several key design elements to all of these gorgeous new Charge tools. For instance, the knife blades are bigger and wider to give you more cutting edge. The pliers can withstand 133% higher squeezing load than Leatherman's original tools, enabling a tighter hold for tough jobs. You'll never have to worry about the Charge coming unhinged, either, thanks to a 50% increase in lock strength. Multiple bit drivers also are a standard feature, and each tool has bronze bushings at the hinges to make opening components a snap.

Titanium vs. Aluminum
You may be asking whether you want to buy titanium or aluminum. Although both offer superior durability and strength, titanium has an edge in both departments. Titanium is also slightly lighter than aluminum, so it would be a good choice if weight is a major concern. However, titanium also costs more, which is something to factor in if saving .2 ounces doesn't matter.

The Charge TTi
The TTi supplants the XTi as Leatherman's top-of-the-line multitool. Not only is the TTi .10 ounces lighter than the XTi, but it also packs an S30V stainless steel knife that delivers an optimal combination of edge retention, flexibility, and hardness. This is an upgrade from the XTi's 154CM steel knife, which previously was the highest grade knife you could get from Leatherman (incidentally, Leatherman outfitted the Charge ALX and AL come with 154CM blades, an upgrade from the standard 420 series knife). The TTi also has a crimper and a cutting hook. The crimper is an ideal accessory for anyone working with electrical wires or metals, while the hook is a fantastic addition for those who need to be ready for emergency situations.

The TTi combines the features of the ALX and the AL into a single package (There is one small exception: the ALX is the only Charge to have two large bit drivers.). For example, if you're looking at the ALX or the AL you'l! l have to choose whether you want a cutting hook or scissors, because neither has both (the ALX has a cutting hook while the AL has scissors). If you think you might need a cutting and scissors in the same multitool, then you should strongly consider the TTi. Full TTi specs:

    Titanium handles (exclusive to TTi)
    Needlenose pliers
    Regular pliers
    Wire cutters
    Hard-wire cutters
S30V Clip-point knife (exclusive to TTi)

An inside back pocket holds Charge's included bits and has room for a full Bit Kit (sold separately) giving you up to 42 bits to choose from. Don't want to wear a sheath? Then clip your Charge to your jacket, backpack or car's visor with the removable pocket clip. Or, choose the quick-release lanyard ring. With it, you're able to safely keep the tool on any lanyard and detach it quickly when you need it.

The Leatherman Story
The Leatherman phenomenon began in 1975 when founder Tim Leatherman embarked on a trip across Europe and the Middle East in a cranky Fiat. Leatherman, an engineer by training, became so fed up with breakdowns and other hassles that he fashioned a prototype of what he called a Pocket Survival Tool out of cardboard. Two years later the first PST was born in his basement, and the rest is history. Today the Leatherman company produces dozens of different multitools, knives, pruners, and accessories, and is recognized across the world for its cutting edge designs and superior quality.

Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath Review

Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall, the new Wave is worth the money and effort though not perfect, but we'll go through the comparison to the old Wave (which is still pretty darn good).

Pro-
-All the tools lock open!I love this one, and this alone makes up for the short comings (to follow).
-The removable driver bits are most excellent. The basic one that comes with the Wave is OK, but when you add the accessory kit, you're ready to face any sort of fastener (torx, Allen/hex, posi-drive, square)
-The sheath allows you to carry it in the pliers configuration as well as fully closed (and has room for the accessory bits, barely).
-That little eyeglass screwdriver bit is worth it's weight in platinum.
-Like the original Wave, the knife blades are accessible when the tool is fully closed, and lock open. This is a major improvement over most other mutli-tools, and was my main reason for getting my first (old style) Wave. The blades also have thumb notches for easy (single-handed) opening, that are well sized (not too big, not too small) for both carrying and ease of use.

Con-
-Sadly, the new Wave is significantly bulkier than the original, but still not as bulky as most of the Gerber tools.
-The nylon sheath feels a little cheesy, but has held up fairly well.

My Wave has stood up well to fairly rough use, and I recommend it for anyone who needs a screwdriver once or twice a day but doesn't want to lug the full tool box around (The Wave, a Camelbak, and a poncho liner are probably the three most useful things a friend or loved one going to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, etc could have). The scissors deserve special note as they work wonderfully; could someone at Leatherman replace one of the outside blades, like the sheepsfoot/serrated blade with the scissors?I use the scissors a lot more than the serrated blade, and would welcome being able to get to them without opening the pliers.

The versatile Wave comes with a durable and attractive nylon sheath.

The Wave includes several screw bits for added versatility.

Expand your Wave's capabilities with the optional bit kit, pocket clip, or lanyard ring (not included). User Features

This Wave model has four exterior blades that can be accessed even while the tool is closed. (Note: the knife blade can only be opened when the tool is closed.) You can open the blades with one hand by placing your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade, and rotating until the knife is fully extended. This securely engages the locking mechanism.
The saw and file both have nail nicks at their tips for easy access. The locking mechanism is marked with a padlock symbol on the tool itself. To unlock the blades, all you have to do is press the locking mechanism toward the handle until the blade slides past the lock.
Accessing the interior features is a snap, too -- just grip the handles and rotate them open. Each interior blade can be opened by using the nail nicks. The scissors extend in the very same way, and they lock into place for secure, safe use. And of course, it's easy to change the tool bits, too. Just remove the bit from the driver and pop a new one into place.
Optional Accessories (not included)

Expand your Wave's capabilities with the Bit Kit, offering 21 double-ended bits. Or, you can add a pocket clip and quick-release lanyard ring.

Leatherman 831102 Super Tool-300 Multitool with Premium Sheath Review

Leatherman 831102 Super Tool-300 Multitool with Premium Sheath
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What a great tool.I am a huge fan of the Super Tool 200, which i still use, so I will use that as a comparison.I've had the 300 for about a month and a half, so it is still in the break in stage, as it is quite stiff to open and close.A quick usage background on myself, I work as a mechanic/technician on vehicles and equipment ranging from utility ATVs to diesel engines to heavy equipment, including road service calls.I wear and use this tool daily. It holds up extremely well in rough industrial shop environments. My Super Tool has seen battery acid, hammering, prying, twisting steel banding among other things, being dropped on concrete, and it still works wonderfully.

Noticeable improvements:My well broken in 200 has the problem of flinging the blade out when I open the tool. They corrected this problem on the 300 by inserting a small detent to create a positive stop at the inner base of both the straight and serrated blades.

The cutaway to access either blade is much bigger.Makes it easier to open the blade, given the extra small bit of effort required with the addition of the detent stop and if you wear utility gloves.

The plier head is much stronger and wider with replaceable wire cutter blades. The plier jaws on the 300 are square cut and thicker instead of rounded over like the 200.(just remember to use threadlocker when you re-install the torx screw after blade replacement)

The depth of the handle is noticeably bigger, though not by much, adding a more solid, bulky feel in my hand.I have relatively large hands and it is very comfortable.

The phillips screwdriver is stronger with a more beefed up shank.

The saw blade is slightly wider, adding more strength.

The blade release button is greatly improved.Consisting of a wide thumb pad the width of the handle, it makes for releasing the tools a breeze, especially while wearing gloves.

The lanyard eyelet is bigger

The flat tipped screw drivers (all 3) are bigger with a more professional bevel at the tip.

The case. The case I received with the 300 is leather/nylon combo. In the time that I've worn this tool, the black finish is starting to wear off on the backside.I prefer the feel of the nylon case as it seems to have a more flat profile on my belt.

This tool does NOT have scissors, as I've read complaints about this.I have personally have never needed it in a multitool.

For a basic, heavy duty full size multitool, I highly recommend the Super Tool 300.I like it enough that I am going to buy another one (maybe the black oxide version) to keep in the truck. For the price offered, you can't go wrong or beat it when you consider other smaller multitools can cost almost twice as much.Great value. Thanks again, Leatherman, for another great tool.

Leatherman 830846 Skeletool Multitool Review

Leatherman 830846 Skeletool Multitool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
WHAT THIS TOOL IS NOT
I have seen this tool pitched for hiking/camping.If you are an avid outdoorsman, get the Charge TTi.The Skeletool is lighter but only by 3.2 ounces (5 compared to 8.2).For that minimal weight savings, you sacrifice having a saw, file, backup blades and a can opener.Seems like a really bad trade off in survival situations.

WHAT THIS TOOL IS
The Skeletool is a great pocket knife replacement. It is light enough and compact enough to replace your trusty pocket knife.Without even openning the swing arms, you can access the knife (which is very solid) and bottle openner / carabiner.Openning the swing arms provides access to very solid pliers and screwdriver. The screwdriver gives access to 4 screwdriver heads since the removable bits are reversable and the handle stores an extra bit.

The Skeletool would also make a great multitool for IT support people since it has everything that a tech support person might need in a pinch.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Build quailty is great (as I have come to expect from Leatherman). For the minimal size and weigtht of the tool, it provides good functionality. If you carry a pocket knife and/or just need the few tools that the Skeletool provides, I would definately recommend replacing it with the Skeletool (a real set of pliers can be very handy). If you are looking for a toolbox replacement (or as near as you can get with a multitool) or if you are looking for an outdoor survival tool, get the Charge TTi.You will give up too much for the 3.2 ounces of weight savings.

Personally, I have both.I usually carry the Skeletool, but grab my Charge TTi when I need a fully functional multitool.

Product Description:

Leatherman packs the full-size Skeletool with the tools you're likely to use most often.
Introducing the Brand New Skeletool from Leatherman
Now you're ready to lighten your load and boost your survival skills -- with Leatherman's Skeletool. At a mere 5 ounces the new, full-sized multitool keeps weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and true functionality, and that's what the Skeletool is all about. Many multitools have multiple options, but they're often heavier -- and they're loaded with more features than most people actually need on a regular basis. Conversely, pocket knives are light and streamlined, but they render themselves useless when the task calls for a more versatile tool. Enter the new Skeletool platform, offering minimal weight, compact size and endless capabilities. And with the Skeletool's integrated, removable pocket clip, you can easily clip this tool onto a belt, a pack, or a vest -- with no sheath or tote required.
Key User Features
The Skeletool CX has a large knife blade that can be accessed while the tool is closed; to open it, just place your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade and rotate it out until it's fully extended -- which will engage the safety lock. This locking mechanism is noted with a padlock symbol on the tool. To unlock the blade, press the locking mechanism towards the handle until the blade slides past the lock.
Equipped with a universal bit driver, the Skeletool offers real utility options like no other multitool. To change the tool bits, simply unfold the tool and remove the bit from the bit driver -- and pop it out. And replacing bits is just as easy. Just press a new one into position and you're good to go. There's even a spare bit located in the handle side opposite the knife blade. This tool includes the following bits: Phillips #1 and #2, screwdriver 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch.
In the plier jaws you'll find a hard-wire cutter and a regular wire cutter. The regular wire cutter is great for softer grades of wire, but the hard-wire cutter is excellent for heavier jobs -- like cutting and bending fishhooks.

The Skeletool keeps it simple -- and light, and compact, and easy to transport. Why waste time with pointless, heavy add-ons when all the basics are right at your fingertips? Leatherman 831207 Style CS Clip-On Multi-Tool with Scissors Review

Leatherman 831207 Style CS Clip-On Multi-Tool with Scissors
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this tool, to be a companion with it's big brother, an skeletool, witch I carry everyday. I need a tool with me all the time, because I work with computers. But I needed something smaller, just for the times I don't wish to carry a heavy tool. This is NOT a heavy duty tool, just for emergency use. I feel that the supposed screwdrivers are not for even moderate use, and the bottle opener doesn't feel very tough, but it does its job well. Anyways, my skeletool, doesn't have scissors, and these are excellent. The tweezers are somewhat difficult to take out, but I hope will get easier as time passes. The blade is small, but feels very sharp for what it is supposed to be (a small blade) and is a very nice complement to have.

If you need to have a scissors, small blade, bottle opener, and a nail file with you all the time, in a very small tool that can be even clipped to your key chain, but easily detached, and you don't mind about the screwdrivers (or may be used for occasional light use), this tool is for you.
If you want to complement your actual tool (like the skeletool), witch doesn't have a pair of scissors, this tool is for you (they look like brothers together, I'll post a picture)
if you are looking to have screwdrivers with you for something more than a very light use, or you want a all in one small tool, this tool is NOT for you.

Pros:
Very small and light.
Excellent scissors.
Looks (at least, for me)
Blade, is nice for its size.
File is nice.
Can be clipped to your key chain, and unclipped easily.

Cons:
Screwdriver are not very strong.
Tweezers are difficult to take out
Bottle opener doesn't feel very strong (but it works)

All in all, a very nice key chain tool.

Edit: I'm rising it to 5 stars. After a little use of the screwdrivers (I've been playing with it all day) , i found that they can handle moderate use. Excellent for such a small tool. This is my third leatherman, and the first one of this type (key chain size). I've uploaded a few pictures, check them out.

This is the third Leatherman I've owned and will never buy a different brand multi-tool.Don't pay any attention to people saying that the lock mechinisim breaks. It breaks because they forget to press it down when trying to close one of the tools that are locked into place and end up forcing them closed rather than stopping to think that they have a tool that locks. They broke their tool, the tool didn't break due to poor craftmanship.

Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool Review

Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think there is a lot of confusion about what advantages the CX has over the cheaper (-$20) stainless version.I hope this review will clear some of that up.Some reviewers are advising you buy the stainless version because the only difference is a slither of carbon fiber. That is simply not true. The CX has a lot more going on for it than that!

1) The metal used to make the blade in each model is different. The stainless version uses 420HC steel, which is a decent metal with good hardness and good edge retention. The CX version uses 154CM steel, which is considered by many as a "super steel" because of its good corrosion resistance and excellent toughness and edge retention.Imho, this is worth the $20 price difference alone.

2) The blade styles are different. The stainless version has a plain edge whereas the CX has a partially serrated blade. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. The plain blade is much easier to sharpen because you dont have to deal with maintaining any serrations (if you dont know what you are doing, serrations tend to get ground away when you do any sharpening). The partially serrated blade, however, is much more versatile in terms of cutting. In a pinch, you can used the serrated part of the knife as a saw or just for more cutting power.Additionally, if you learn the proper technique, sharpening a serrated blade is not that much more difficult, albeit a bit more time consuming.Personally, I like the partially serrated blade.

3) The tungsten coating isnt just for looks.True, it makes this tool even sexier than it would otherwise be, but it also adds a layer of corrosion/oxidation protection. This is a big deal to those of us who intend to use the tool in humid or moist conditions.Natural oxidation isnt always that noticeable and protects the layer of aluminum underneath it.However, it is porous and is not as durable as a coating.

4) Some reviewers have stated that the carbon fiber portion of the scales adds cushioning to the handle, making it more comfortable to hold.I dont know if that is true or not because I have only held the CX.Still, it might be something worth considering.

---------------
UPDATE:

*The 2009 model of the CX has a plain edge blade and the Stainless has a partially serrated blade*Thanks, Poiuyt Man, for the heads up.

After 1 year, I still love this tool.So far, it has held up to daily use and abuse very well.I sharpen it maybe 4-5 times a year and oil the joints once or twice a year.I also gave the pocket clip significantly more tension by removing it, bending it inward, and reattaching it.This keeps the tool firmly in place when I clip it in my pocket.Be careful not to strip the threads by cross-threading or over-torquing if you decide to do this. The pliers have developed a tiny bit of lateral play, but they still work great for anything I throw at them. The spare bit holder still has a lot of bite and holds the spare bit firmly in place.I still lost a bit, however, out of carelessness and had to order a replacement from Leatherman.Although the replacements are pricey, Leatherman got it out to me extremely quickly and customer service seemed very responsive and helpful. The tool's black anodizing has held up remarkably well despite being dropped countless times, used heavily, and tossed around in my pocket with keys.

Overall, I am very happy with this tool and it has been my trusty daily-carry almost every day since I got it.Much more versatile than a pocket knife alone and not much bulkier. You really cant appreciate something like this until you start to carry one and forget it at home one day.You will find yourself constantly reaching for it throughout the day, only to be greeted with an empty pocket and disappointment.I almost feel naked without mine.

Product Description:

Leatherman packs the full-size Skeletool with the tools you're likely to use most often.
Introducing the Brand New Skeletool CX from Leatherman
Get back to basics -- the very cool basics -- with Leatherman's Skeletool CX. Today's outdoor enthusiasts want to keep weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and true functionality, and that's what the Skeletool is all about.

Key User Features
The Skeletool CX has a large straight knife blade that can be accessed while the tool is closed; to open it, just place your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade and rotate it out until it's fully extended -- which will engage the safety lock.

Multitool Capabilities:
The Skeletool keeps it simple -- and light, and compact, and easy to transport. Why waste time with pointless, heavy add-ons when all the basics are right at your fingertips? With its open hardware, skeletal design and hardy appearance, the Skeletool boasts a premium stainless steel blade, pliers, a universal bit driver, and a carabiner/bottle opener ... and that's it.

Key Tech Specs:

    Length: 4 inches/10 cm closed
    Weight: 5 ounces/142 grams
Materials: Stainless steel, Tungsten DLC coating, 154CM, carbon fiber (handle scale)
Included Bits: Phillips #1 and #2, Screwdriver 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch

Leatherman makes a full range of complementary accessories and add-ons for this and other Leatherman products.

Optional Accessories (not included)
Spice up your Skeletool with genuine Leatherman accessories. Options include a bit kit that offers 21 double-ended bits for real versatility. From new belt sheaths to t-shirts and caps, genuine Leatherman accessories are durable, fun and show that you're a part of Leatherman World. With such a wide variety available, it's easy to find just the add-on that's right for you.

Warranty

Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool with Leather/Nylon Combination Sheath Review

Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool with Leather/Nylon Combination Sheath
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One thing that chaps my hide is a cheap tool.I don't like 'em, I don't buy 'em and I avoid using them if I don't have to.Leatherman is well known for their quality and they don't disappoint here.

Good Points:
This New Wave is extremely well built.
Resists torque/twisting that some other multi-tools don't.
Nice heft, but not too heavy to slip in a pocket.
Smooth and comfortable finish in the hand.
A really nice selection of functional tools.
Great tool locking, easy to release (but only when you want!)

I've used several other multi-tools and beyond the novelty, I never really enjoyed the flip out style (Gerber) because it seemed a bit unstable and difficult to put back. And most of the others cut into the palm. The only detractor is the price, but I don't mind paying for quality and this baby delivers.

Product Description:

The Wave multitool's compact folded shape hides a wealth of tools and blades within. The Wave Multitool From Leatherman: Better than Ever

The most popular full-size Leatherman tool is now better than ever. Larger knives, stronger pliers, longer wire cutters and all-locking blades make the new Wave an essential piece of equipment for any job or adventure. The pliers have been redesigned to withstand more than double the previous squeezing load, and the new bronze bushing makes one-handed knife access a smooth operation -- plus, the one-at-a-time blade selection function means that the tool you want is the tool you get. The versatile Wave comes with a durable and attractive leather/nylon combination sheath.

The Wave includes several screw bits for added versatility.

Gerber 22-01506 Clutch Mini Pliers Keychain Tool, Special Ops Gray Review

Gerber 22-01506 Clutch Mini Pliers Keychain Tool, Special Ops Gray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like the way the Clutch looks -- the dark finish, and the holes that give it a techno flair. However, be forewarned that the edges of the darker finish wear to reveal the steel underneath, so it won't look new for long.I personally don't think it's too big to use on a keychain, although it is bigger than some such tools.

Open it, and you have a decent pair of pliers, spring-loaded to open when you are not actively closing them.Mind you, this is a mini-tool, so the jaws are small; at the point most likely to break (where the circular arc cuts deepest), the cross-section of each jaw is 1/8 by 1/8 inch.I'm sure if you get carried away, bearing down hard and twisting, you can break this thing, but it is enough to be useful in many situations. There is a small wire-cutter in the pliers, but no stripper.

There is a decent assortment of other useful tools:
- a 1 3/4 inch flat blade
- a small nail file
- a large flat screwdriver
- a small flat screwdriver
- a thin Philips screwdriver -- by that I mean that it is not the width of a real Philips screwdriver, but rather just a flat piece of metal that ends in a sort of V so you can use it with a Philips screw
- a tiny set of tweezers
I find some of these a little hard to get out, even after applying some WD-40.

This is an appropriate buy if you are looking for a small tool that gives you a functional set of pliers.

--- An update ---

This didn't last all that long; eventually one of the handles gave way and now swings freely so you can't use the pliers. My son carried the thing in his pocket for the better part of a year before it gave out, and he's pretty active; perhaps it was corroded by sweat. In any case, I'd like to take off a star (4=>3) for lack of durability but apparently I can't do that!
