Leatherman Blast Multi-tool & LGX 200 LED Light Pack Review

Leatherman Blast Multi-tool & LGX 200 LED Light Pack
Average Reviews:

I never liked the multipurpose tools like this before. When I bought this set, actually only to test the flashlight, I understood how convenient it is. The tools are fixable, very sharp, handy, convenient in the hand. The flashlight is small and amazing. It has two modes, 16 and 98 Lumens, and it's unbelievable to have it so small, with only one AA battery, working for 1.5 hours in full 98 Lumen mode and 15 hours in 16 Lumen mode! I bought 6 sets, and all flashlights were perfect, no one was defective or something. The only one disadvantage of this set is its price. Although, my local C-co has them below $30. They are all on sale for some reason now. I bought totally 6 sets for myself, my wife, and 4 as gifts for my friends. I would recommend this set. I always carry it with me.

Leatherman Surge Leather Sheath + Nylon Sheath 42 Bit kit Review

Leatherman Surge Leather Sheath + Nylon Sheath 42 Bit kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I needed to send my wave (the old version) in for service when the bottle opener broke, so I got a surge in the mean time. The Surge is quite a bit bigger than the wave and it really won't ride in your pocket, so you have to use the holster which, frankly, is not very good. The finish on the holster started to peel within the first few days which hasn't happened to any of the other three leatherman holsters (one of which is 10 years old) and the design means that you will probably need to use both hands to put it away, which is also not good. The sides of the holster are mad out of a nylon and elastic material which does not look like it will last long (mine eis a month old, and is already showing wear. You can stick a flashlight in one of the "side pockets" which are really just potential spaces between two layers of the elastic material the holster sides are made of. One good design element is that the bottol of the holster is designed on one side to keep something from working down the elastic pocket and falling out (like the Fenix single AAA light I keep in mine) while the other side is scalloped to accept something longer like a pencil. The tool itself is a pretty burly piece and seems like it will stand a lot of use. I find myself appreciating that the scissors are accessible without opening the tool, but am pretty sure the pathetic plastic thumb rest will fall off pretty soon. Both knife blades are useful, but are not particularly sharp from the factory. The exchange-a-blade system works well, and the other blade stores in a plastic 2 position keeper in the holster, which will also hold a card of spare bits for the bit driver if you happen to buy the 2-card accessory driver bit pack.Inside, there seem to be fewer tools. One side of the handle has a can/bottle opener that's quite a bit stouter than the one that broke on my wave, and a bit driver that holds a double-ended bit plus the 10 more on the holster. The other side has a flat screwdriver thats just barely small enough to fit the bar adjustment screw on my Husky chain saw. There is also a fine screwdriver that holds a double-ended eye glass bit (plus a spare, not included in the 10 above fits in the bit card in the holster). There is also a pierced awl-reamer type tool. All of the tools lock into place with the best locking systen I've seen on a multi tool yet. The outside blades will come open even wearing gloves, same probably goes with the inside tools which are very easy to grab and come out one at a time instead of all stuck together. Big pliers. You're not going to be cutting #9 wire with these, but they're perfectly adequate for bailing wire. Overall, this was a good buy except for the embarasingly bad holster, which is a desigh that I'm sure won't last long with a maker as good as Leatherman Tool. I typed this in on my phone while standing in line at the DMV, so forgive the spelling, as I won't be proof-reading this.

A bit larger and heavier than I would have liked, but you can't argue with the quality and function of this tool. The blades actually come out of the box razor sharp.Just the way I like them!Someday maybe an 80% scale version will come out.My Mini is just a bit to small for some jobs and this one is a bit large to carry as a pocket knife.

Leatherman 831085 Core Multitool and C33LX Knife Combo Set Review

Leatherman 831085 Core Multitool and C33LX Knife Combo Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I needed a multi-tool to replace a general store (made in china) tool for my work as a theater technician. I looked at a few different models, the Core and Wave as my two choices. I was given the set (also a knife collector, appreciated the package deal) as a gift before I could decide on the purchase. I wanted a tool that I could use for a long time to be the "trusty" tool, not a pretty little thing that I would be afraid of damaging. The Core is just that; it is a brick. The tools themselves are good sizes (4 blades are a good 3.75") and are very thick. There are no flimsy little blades in sight. I was concerned about having to unfold the tool to get at the blades (as opposed to the Wave with has the 4 on the outer casing, nice touch), but with a little practice, I can get any one of them out quickly and with little effort. The pliers are a great side and join up perfectly. I have yet to try cutting wire of any sizable gauge, which is one place the generic tool fails miserably. The other tools, very similar in lineup to a Swiss Army (though larger), are easier to get at that I had expected. It is easy to open one tool as opposed to pulling all out on one side to get at the middle screwdriver. The tools sit inside the handle well, so one doesn't have to worry about having cuts after using the pliers. The Core is a bit large and heavy (4.5"x1.5"x.75"), but for the quality of the tools it holds, I find that a necessary sacrifice. In a pouch with a Maglite on the belt, it vanishes until needed. Overall, very pleased with my first Leatherman.

The C33LX knife that comes with the Core was a welcome addition. About the same size and use as one of my Buck knives and a Spyderco product. The blade is made of a very good metal and is sharp out of the box (though the Spyderco is much sharper, but more brittle as well). Lightweight and fits easily in a pocket. In that way, its transportability is great. The Spyderco came with a pocket clip, the Buck with a lanyard hole (silly for a 3" knife). The C33LX has a pocket clip (I dislike these, removed it immediately) and a carabiner clip folds away into the knife blade when unneeded. I love this clip and use it constantly to hang the knife from a belt loop. The handle is very light, but made of some weird material (see the product description above) that is slightly irritating to my hand, sort of a rough plastic coat. A bit more delicate than the Core, but works perfectly as an "always there if you need it" tool. For the price the combo is set at, the Core is worth the full price, the additional knife is a great bonus.

Product Description:
Take our strongest tool and pair it with our slimmest everyday carry knife and you have a deal that's anything but skinny. The Core multi-tool features our largest strongest jaws/pliers and 17 additional tools in one, including hollow ground screwdrivers in the sizes professionals use. The Crater C33LX pocket knife is not only lightweight, but because we use VLF material in the 60% nylon-filled handle it's incredibly durable, and withstands most petroleum-based chemicals including DEET. And with the amazing ergo-grip handles you'll find on both products, it's going to be a toss-up which one you love putting through the paces more. On the job, or at home, this is one of Leatherman's hardest working combinations. The Leatherman Core multitool packs 12 essential tools into one compact, versatile, heavy-duty device. This 4-1/2-inch multitool has powerful new pliers, longer blades, and easy-to-use locks to keep your tool secure and your fingers safe -- and it's the first Leatherman to feature hollow-ground screwdrivers in the standard sizes. The redesigned Core features comfortable handles that are rounded to ensure a firm grip, and stainless steel construction with bronze and steel bushings. This multitool comes with a lanyard ring and a leather sheath. The Core features all-locking blades. They open easily with one hand -- just place your thumb at the base of the blade and rotate the knife until it's fully extended, which securely engages the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is marked with a padlock symbol on the tool, and to disengage it, just squeeze it towards the handle until the blade slides past the lock. It's a simple feature, but it's one that guarantees your safety. To open and close the interior blades, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be lifted out by using the nail nicks or the thumb lifts. The Core features both straight and serrated knife blades; the straight blades can be sharpened with standard sharpening methods, so it's easy to maintain. The serrated blades are easy to sharpen too, but make sure you're using a sharpening system designed to accommodate the serrations. The Leatherman Core multitool packs 12 essential tools into one compact, versatile, heavy-duty device. Having been a huge fan of my Schrade Multi-Tool, I was devastated when it came up missing. My favorite feature is the fact that I don't have to open the pliers to access the other tools. My second favorite feature is the price.I had forgotten how affordable it was compared to some of the Leatherman and Gerber tools.I went to Dick's, Lowes, Home Depot, called Cabella's and Gander Mountain...no luck. But Amazon had it in stock with quick shipment and I was back in business. One reason why I didn't rate this a "5"...The metal doesn't seem quite as high quality as my older Schrade when it came to the shell. The individual tools are still A+.I don't know if it was a change that took place when Taylor purchased the rights to manufacture/distribute the tools or not, but it isn't as good. The sad ending to the story is that I found my original tool within a week of ordering its replacement.Guess I have a back-up now, and I couldn't ask for a better one.

Wenger 16999 Giant Swiss Army Knife Review

Wenger 16999 Giant Swiss Army Knife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, let me tell you a little about myself and how I came to need such mystical tools of survival.

In the beginning, I was born from the ashes of Lincoln and Roosevelt then raised by Hemingway, a troop of firefighters, and werewolves. I was taught to fight evil of all forms from politics to the undead. I can tell you from experience, there has never been a tool half as useful as the Wenger - The Giant Knife. Let me give you a brief example from yesterday:

I woke up after my amazing night's rest in the Wenger's king size murphy bed (with satin sheets). Once the women were dressed and out the door, I made coffee from the Wenger's cappuccino machine. Then I headed out the door, Wenger in hand.

I came across a two old women selling crochet crosses. I pulled my Wenger out of my pants to get to my wallet. The ladies saw this and died in ecstasy just at the size of my Wenger. Now Armed with two crochet crosses, I went to the cave.

This cave was the home of a 58 mouthed snake that looked more like a chainsaw blade than a snake. After traveling 5 miles on the Wenger's hoverboard, I reached the treasure surrounded by the serrated beast. I unfolded my 3 Spartan army and easy bake oven from the Wenger and went into battle. After 15 minutes, the 3 Spartan's had dismantled the toothy monster's 58 mouths just as my cupcakes were ready. The four of us enjoyed my marbled chocolate-vanilla cupcakes (with sprinkles) while counting the treasure and mocking the mouthless snake that lay before us.

After counting the treasure, I pulled out the Wenger's Millennium Falcon and obliterated the Spartans. Seriously, I obliterated Spartans with the Wenger. I think that alone is enough reason to get one! Anyway, Spartans suck at sharing.

I flew out of the cave in the Wenger's Millennium Falcon and crossed the River of Desolation just east of The Mountain of Despair. I was hungry, so I pulled out the Wenger's giant spider legion and they shot down 4 flying dragons with their dark matter tusk lasers. It was pretty cool. Lunch was alright.

I remembered the crocheted crosses the old ladies left me. Their memory should be honored. So, I went to my local vampire castle. If you know anything about Twilight, then you know that everything you once knew about vampires is completely wrong. Inside the castle, there were dozens of tragically fake "glistening" vampires pining over this wimpy goth chick. The tension and virginity was so thick and everlasting that the only thing I could do was slay them all. I pulled out the Wenger's entertainment system and played the first Twilight movie. Mission... accomplished. I put the two crocheted crosses over the Vampire King's eyes. "You're welcome, old broads."

Now that I'm exceedingly bored, I pulled out the Wenger's hot air balloon and went to the moon. Moon men are pretty cool dudes.

I got to the moon just in time to catch the double sunset. I pulled out New York City from the Wenger and sat in the crown of the Statue of Liberty watching the Moon's double sunset with some chicks I found and a couple moon men drinking burnt martinis. Again, moon men are pretty cool dudes.

We partied all night inside this sweet party tent in the Wenger. Chicks love party tents. You wouldn't think a full wet bar would be something you'd ever use in a pocket knife, but it really comes in handy. And it makes the Wenger - The Giant Knife worth it, even if you don't drink.

That's all I can remember from yesterday. The pictures afterward were hilarious. I almost lost it when the penguins arrived. I must of gotten the Extreme Wenger because I didn't know the Arctic Circle was one of the tools. But even if you don't get a Wenger with the Arctic Circle... still worth getting. I highly recommend it.

Leatherman 81031103K Red Squirt S4 and Monarch 200 Pocket Multitool/Flashlight Combo Set Review

Leatherman 81031103K Red Squirt S4 and Monarch 200 Pocket Multitool/Flashlight Combo Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like having a small multitool on me at all times.I've carried a Leatherman Micra for years and it's been very useful. When I saw this combo I decided to pick it up and give it a try.I liked it so much I switched to the S4 as my every day carry multitool.

The star of the show is the Squirt S4.I got the blue one and I think it looks pretty stylish. One feature that I really like is that all the individual tools have been moved to the outside of the case so that you don't have to open it up to access any of them (as compared to the Micra). It basically has the exact same toolset as the Micra and is almost exactly the same size, just a hair shorter.A minor design flaw is that the tweezers have to be pulled out of a small slot and it's sometimes difficult to get at them because they are wedged in there pretty tight. Also there is the world's most useless ruler. It's 1.5 inches. So not much you can measure with it.But you've a knife, scissors, file, tweezers and several different screwdrivers at your disposal in a convenient, keychain friendly package. One downside to anodized aluminum is that eventually the coloring will wear off.

The flashlight is ok.It's solidly built (as is the multitool) and feels sturdy. It's a clicky instead of a twisty which is a plus in my book. However mine is a bit stiff and you have to apply quite a bit of pressure to turn it on.It delivers an average amount of light for a keychain light. It has a cool white beam and it's a bit ringy, not quite as smooth as I would like.It runs off 3 button cell batteries which is a bit annoying because many other comparable sized lights use only 1 or 2 button cells. It's also slightly larger than some common keychain lights like Photons.I wouldn't necessarily buy it over some other lights but it's a good value for the price of this combo.

Leatherman makes quality tools so you know you'll get a lot of years of service from the S4.If you've ever found yourself wishing you had a knife or scissors or small screwdriver at your disposal, do yourself a favor and pick up an S4.You won't be disappointed.

SE 11 Function Credit Card Size Survival Pocket Tool Review

SE 11 Function Credit Card Size Survival Pocket Tool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fair warning: I wrote this review for an out of production item that is essentially this same piece with one more wrench slot and a slightly different Protractor.Either way, my previous review stands for this as well:

I hope nobody is considering this tool for anything other than having an emergency backup to what should already be every day carry tools. It's decent quality, but I certainly wouldn't put it at "top notch" status. And the functions are mostly hard to pull off with any degree of force. The knife is on a short side which makes it difficult to use. The "screwdriver" which is little more than one corner ground to a flat-head shape is only useful in wide-open areas with larger screws, and with the knife on the same edge, one has to be very careful indeed.

The only tools that I found to be decently easy to use are the saw and bottle opener. The saw since it was on the long side and the opposite side (ruler) allows for a decent grip. The Bottle opener is equally easy to operate.

The can opener forces you to use the saw as a finger grip and the wrench slots pretty much require that any bolts are not very tight, and that's if you can get the tool on it in the first place.

This really didn't fit well in my money clip wallet, but it might in a full sized wallet. So, as an emergency backup, it might get you out of a jam and could actually come in handy once in a while. Forget using it as a keychain tool... it's way too dangerous to leave out in the open (and the plastic cover that came with mine was laughably cheap). It won't make it through the TSA unless someone's asleep at the wheel, so traveling with it isn't really an option either.

I'd give it a 2.5 star, but for the money, it's hard to beat, so I'm rounding up. You could always toss one in the glove compartment, toolbox, bookbag, etc. but I strongly recommend a Small Leatherman Micra or Squirt if compact is what you seek. Those are FAR more functional (AND SAFER!!!) in comparison.Get it if your curiosity or gearlust must be sated.

Swiss+Tech MMCSSS Micro-Max KeyChain Tool with Pliers, Screwdriver Set, Wire Cutter/Stripper Review

Swiss+Tech MMCSSS Micro-Max KeyChain Tool with Pliers, Screwdriver Set, Wire Cutter/Stripper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The "Swiss Tech Micro-Max" is a very cool multi-tool, with good pliers, a solid Phillips head and flat screwdrivers (3 of each), a "hand drill", and wire cutters. It technically has other tools, but they are mostly "filler" (i.e. ruler marks?). That being said, the real tools are well worth the cost of this well made and compact tool. The folding design also allows this to be carried in pants pockets or in a computer case, which is very convenient.

Highly recommended.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools B61-N EOD PowerLock, Black Oxide Review

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools B61-N EOD PowerLock, Black Oxide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of six Multi-tools that I have had regular hands-on experience with. The others I own (or have owned) are the Gerber Multi-Plier Sport 400, an (original) L-Man Wave, an L-Man Charge TTi, a Victorinox Swisstool X and Gerber's Nautilus (ugh).

The SOG is probably at least as robust and sturdy as any of these others and in some respects (see below) it is better. I don't expect to be breaking mine any time soon. But there are trade-offs too and I just don't like it as well as I would like to like it. This tool is too solid and well built to rate it as a 3 but it falls short of a 5 star rating, IMO, which is too bad.

First the good news:

These are the most robust pliers I have ever seen on a multi-tool. I have a hard time imagining that a multitool could have better pliers. The jaws are sturdy, the compound gearing really works and the handle covers make these pliers comfortable to use. When you have to, you can really put the pressure on.If pliers are your top priority and you have big hands (this tool isn't tiny) the Powerlock might just be your best choice in a multi-tool.

The other area where the SOG excels is in smoothness... When you fold this baby open it feels GOOD. My Leatherman Charge TTi feels almost clunky by comparison.

In addition to these strengths are some additional niceties. The V-Cutter seems like it should be useful. I also like the 1/4" driver, which unlike some others, takes standard sockets. There are also a variety of crimpers on this tool that seem well designed though I haven't had occasion to use them yet.

Last of all - and this deserves special mention - the tool can be customized by the user. If you would like to replace the file with an extra knife blade, for example, you can get the components from the SOG Web Site and do your thing. I would expect some users to consider the PowerLock in a class by itself because of this feature.

But as I said there are also some disappointments, some in function others in form:

Functionally, it is a disappointment to find just one knife blade and a 1/2 serrated, chisel ground job, at that. I find that serrated blades are great for cutting rope but that a straight edged blade is far more versatile and more easily maintained. The SOG's file and saw seem pretty decent except for the fact that they could be larger considering this is a big tool - 10 oz. The knife blade is actually rather small too, barely larger than the one on the Gerber Sport 400, which weighs about 6.5 oz.

There are also some disappointments in the "form" of the tool. One disappointment has to do with accessibility of the inside tools, which another reviewer has described fairly well. Also, the locks on these inside tools don't feel quite right. They do lock solidly but you have to fiddle with them a bit more than seems necessary. Once you are used to handling the tool, it isn't really a problem but a learning curve shouldn't be necessary here.

Conclusion: The SOG Powerlock mates a superb pair of pliers with a fairly ordinary set of accessory tools that are just a little harder to access than normal. All seems to be solidly built for rugged use, though. If the accessory tools were of higher quality I would consider rating this tool at 5 stars. As it is, 4 stars is the best rating I can offer.

Compound Leverage Technology and Explosive Ordnance Features Provide Easy, Safe Use
Driven by an exclusive interlocking gear system, SOG's patented Compound Leverage technology is a legend in folding tools. With the proprietary technology's increased leverage, SOG pliers generate twice the power of their conventional counterparts, minimizing the amount of hand pressure that is required to get the most torque out of the tool.
SOG is the only company to apply Compound Leverage technology to EOD-specific (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) multi-tools. This technology makes the B61-N an ideal tool for crimping blasting caps and demolition cord with minimal hand pressure. The position of the crimper device within the handle is an EOD-specific feature unique to SOG. This design serves to minimize collateral damage to the crimper and allows you to have uninterrupted use of the plying surface (unlike other brands' tools). Additionally, the crimper produces non-flaring, high pull-out strength crimps that meet government fuse well specifications.
The B61-N is GSA approved.
Heavy-Duty Components Meet Military-Grade Needs
With over a dozen components, from pliers to a saw, and industrial-grade, quality design, the B61-N includes everything a professional soldier or weekend warrior needs, including the first foldable 1/4-inch drive that can turn sockets and hex screwdriver tips (with the use of a standard adapter sold separately). Additionally, this multi-tool features patent-pending foldable spring-loaded scissors that have spring tension in the open position only, providing extra safety.
Smart, Durable Design Ensures Years of Effortless Use
Like all the multi-tools in the PowerLock Series, the B61-N EOD PowerLock multi-tool can be opened and closed with just a flick of the wrist. Additionally, all of the tool's components lock open with the patent-pending Piano-Locks, which allow you to close components with a simple press.
The B61-N's stainless steel handles have a tactical black oxide coating for low reflectivity, and they are ergonomically designed to provide comfort on even the toughest jobs. Additionally, the handles have pivoting covers that improve hand comfort and allow you to exert added pressure on difficult jobs.
And with durable construction that features gear covers and hex bolts, the B61-N is surprisingly light, weighing just 9.6 ounces. Manageable enough to take anywhere, this multi-tool comes with a nylon pouch with belt loop for convenient portability.
This multi-tool is backed by a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.

Smith & Wesson CK5TBS Bullseye Extreme Ops 4.1" 40% Serrated Black Tanto Blade Review

Smith & Wesson CK5TBS Bullseye Extreme Ops 4.1' 40% Serrated Black Tanto Blade
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recieved this knife as a present last year and was immediately impressed by two things.First, the level of fit, finish, and function, and second, the ridiculously low price for such a quality knife.

The construction is solid...black anodized, micro-grooved scales with large, appealing "lightening holes".Oversized blade pivot, and well-finished, tiny screws holding it all together. On the right side is located a strong, spring-steel pocket clip, also finished in a deep, matte black, attached by three tiny screws just behind the pivot pin.
The blade is just shy of 3.25", a dropped, tanto style with serrations along half its lower edge. The blade is also "single sided" meaning the "front" (left) side has the contour shaping, serrations, and logo, while the "back" (right) side is flat. This is of no import on this type of knife to any degree more than holding the price down since only one side of the blade needs to be machined. The blade is a deep black matte finish of S&W's proprietary process and has proved to be quite durable over a year of less than gentle handling. The blade is activated by a large thumbstud located near the hilt along the spine...on BOTH sides of the blade for ambidexterous use.
Blade locking is accomplished by a spring-steel liner lock affixed to the inside of the right scale (handle), and snaps in behind the blade when opened to positively lock the blade against accidental closure.I've heard of liner-locks failing, but it's hard to see how this one could.
Overall fit is well above average. The blade operates smoothly...VERY smoothly and snaps into lock with a reassuringly audible click.Despite being light, the blade can also be snapped into lock with a quick flick of the wrist after the thumb has opened it about 20 degrees.
Once locked open the blade is solid...no wobble, no looseness. To release the thumb (ideally the right thumb) is pressed against the inside of the liner lock, and the lock disengages smoothly without roughness, completely freeing the blade to be rotated into the handle.
The knife is light...easily carried in a pocket without need for being clipped.
As delivered the blade was sharp...not razor, but quite sharp, and a few strokes with an Arkansas stone quickly brought it up to RAZOR sharp and it has held that edge for a long time now.
For the price it would be hard to beat this knife.I guess S&W is now having its knives manufactured in China, which does keep prices low, yet contrary to what some would imply, the QUALITY of S&W knives in general, and this one in particular is superb...well above what one would expect for the money paid, and quite on par with all the big-name domestically produced blades costing oodles more.
To me a "good" knife not only fulfills a useful function, and possesses well-executed, crisp details, but DOES SO at a price that makes it practical to be USED.I don't know anyone who shells out hundreds of dollars for some faux-custom and then uses it hard.THIS knife can be used to the full extent of what it's relatively light-weight construction was meant to allow...and then some, because it didn't cost a small fortune...on top of being VERY well put-together.
You can generally find this knife and several variations of it listed through various online sellers for around $12....TWELVE BUCKS for a knife this good?Amazing.I've seen truly CHEAP pieces of junk at swap-meets selling for more.Let me be very clear:This knife is a truly outstanding value any way you slice it (pun intended).

Leatherman 64440101K Special Edition Key Chain Tool, Red, White and Blue Micra Review

Leatherman 64440101K Special Edition Key Chain Tool, Red, White and Blue Micra
Average Reviews:

I recently purchased one of these directly from Leatherman. The red, white, and blue color scheme is very unique and eye-catching. As far as features, this is a great keychain or pocket multi-tool, perfect for having around for life's little tasks. You probably aren't going to remove rusty engine bolts or saw tree branches with it, but that's what the bigger Leathermans are for anyway. The Micra does what it needs to without burdening your pocket with lots of excess weight. A definite must have for everyone in the family!

About Leatherman: Time-Tested Tools
On a low-budget trip through Europe in 1975, recent college graduate Tim Leatherman faced a number of impromptu "fix-it" situations that his traditional pocket knife couldn't help with. Over the next eight years, Tim used his engineering background to produce countless designs and hundreds of prototypes for the tool he wished he'd had on that trip.
In 1983, the original Leatherman Pocket Survival Tool hit the market. By 1993, Leatherman was selling more than one-million tools a year. Thanks to their durability and versatility, Leatherman products--which now include multi-pliers, knives, pruners, and LED lights--are a mainstay of tradesmen and women, sailors, fishermen, hunters, backpackers, scouts, and do-it-yourselfers the world over.

MULTI-TOOL, JUICE, XE6, STORM, GRAY (78108011K) Review

MULTI-TOOL, JUICE, XE6, STORM, GRAY
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought a larger Gerber multitool and while useful, was bulky and clunky to use. This tool, by and far, is now my favorite tool. The corkscrew is actually difficult to use at times because you can't get leverage, but it will work in a pinch. The blade assortment is incredibly sharp and durable... I just slice through packaging and still able to use for delicate tasks.

I think three standard screwdriver tips is excessive...would've like another phillips tip... but overall the product is small, light and durable with pretty easy access to the tools.
